A new chapter in US-Chinese maritime relations began in April 1979 when the Liu Lin Hai, a vessel of China Ocean Shipping Group Co, sailed into the Port of Seattle carrying goods from Shanghai. In 1982, two Cosco Americas representatives managed a single vessel per month. The subsidiary now operates 23 lines a week on the East and West coasts.
