According to the latest annual Open Doors Report, China is the largest source of international students to the US. China sent 98,000 students to the US in 2009. In 2010, 127,000 Chinese students sought higher education in the United States.
EducationUSA is supported by the Bureau of Educational and Culture Affairs in the State Department. One of EducationUSA's goals for the Beijing regional office (EducationUSA China) is to help Chinese make informed decisions about studying in the US.
Dr Lauryne Massinga, the director of EducationUSA Asia – Northeast, and Yang Jiawei, the progam manager of EducationUSA China, are stopping by the China Daily newsroom to chat about the doubts, misunderstandings and challenges that come with choosing universities in the States.
