China's meteorological authority on Sunday warned the public of possible geological disasters in the south as heavy rain is expected to lash the region.
Parts of Anhui, Jiangxi and Zhejiang provinces will see torrential rain from Sunday night to Monday night, the last day of the three-day May Day holiday, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said in a statement on its website.
The NMC said precipitation could reach up to 95 mm in these areas. Lightning and gales will accompany the rain.
The center warned of high risks of geological disasters in the areas, suggesting people affected by the rainstorms take precautions against possible mountain torrents, mud-rock flows and landslides.
