Site of Xanadu opens to visitors

Tourists use a new boardwalk to get up close to residential ruins at the Site of Xanadu. The 740-year-old ruins, located twenty kilometers northeast of Shangdu County in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, officially opened to visitors on July 15. On January 2011, the State Council approved to apply to include the Site of Xanadu as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2012. [Photo/Xinhua] |
