Former England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson will take charge of Guangzhou R&F Football Club after stepping down as technical director of United Arab Emirates club Al Nasr.
Eriksson's move was confirmed by the Chinese super league club Tuesday afternoon and the 64-year-old Swede will coach Guangzhou until December 2014, according to the club's official account on Sina Weibo.
Eriksson's long career includes a five-year stint as England coach. He has also managed Fiorentina, Roma, Lazio, Benfica, Manchester City, Mexico and Cote d'Ivoire. In the past two years, he has held several short-term posts, managing English second-tier side Leicester, advising a Thai club and now lasting five months in the UAE.
Guangzhou R&F, based in the same city with big-spending CSL champion Guangzhou Evergrande, currently ranked 13th in the 16-team football league.
