Comment on "China calls on Japan to create good tone for meeting" (China Daily, Nov 7)
Tensions between China and Japan arose mainly because of the ultra-nationalistic moves of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his cabinet colleagues. They are using China's military threat as a pretext to transform Japan's Self-Defense Forces into a full-fledged military and change the country's pacifist Constitution. The problem is that, they lack historical perception and, therefore, can never succeed.
