Without further reform, China may be not able to replicate the past successes considering the challenges it faces. Unlike some countries, China can't solely rely on internal consumption and domestic high technology productivity to oil the carousel. It is reported that Chinese shoppers flock to the European Union to purchase goods, especially luxury items, spending 1,500 euro ($2,000) per person each trip on average. What is unsaid is that the Japanese are not so eager to go shopping overseas, since Japan has high quality domestic products at reasonable prices.
The key issue is the Chinese government should shift policies to free up money for consumers. The government needs to enrich households.
We have to use wisdom to solve the immediate questions, even though they might be difficult and challenging.
