If employees aren't paid according to their performance, it eventually harms the employer.
For instance, in universities, academics with 20 years or more teaching and research experience may get paid much less than a member of the university executive staff in their 20s just because the latter is more or less an "official".
Such an unfair evaluation system will eventually hurt the universities' education quality.
