China's Internet giant Tencent recently organized a series of conferences to discuss the development of the Internet and its influence on marketing.
The event, themed "Internet + Openness, Connection", was held in three sessions, in Beijing on Sept 16, in Shanghai on Sept 20 and in Guangzhou on Sept 22.
Entrepreneurs, as well as Internet researchers, such as Liu Shengyi, head of Tencent's online media unit and senior deputy executive president of Tencent, Kevin Ashton, a British technology pioneer known as the father of the term "Internet of Things", describing a system where the Internet is connected to the physical world via sensors, and executives from global consultancy giant McKinsey & Co, attended the conference.
