After touring 10 cities in China with record box office receipts, the stage production "Four Generations Under One Roof" will return to Beijing from January 13th to 28th in Tianqiao Theater. The drama is an adaptation of famed writer Lao She's novel of the same name.

Actors and actresses at the National Theatre Company of China are busy rehearsing for the production. The play premiered in Taipei on October 30th last year, and toured another 9 cities such as Shanghai, Shenzhen and Nanjing in the Chinese mainland.

The play has an authentic Beijing flavor with diverse characters rendered in Lao She's distinctive Language and style. The production has attracted approximately 35 thousand people to attend the presentation.

The director is a local Beijinger, which gives her unique insight to the local culture and weaves this experience into the play.

Tian Qinxin, Director, said, "My grandmother told me stories about the old times in Beijing. I really love the scene that there are several pigeons flying in the sky, old people sitting in chairs under a tree, it's a very peaceful scene. When audiences come to see this play, they will hear the sounds of street vendors as well as a variety of sounds related to Beijing daily life. "

During the national tour, the play moved audience members to tears, which represents a strong connection to the story and its characters. Tian has made some final touches for the Beijing audience and considers the response in Beijing as an important test. He hopes the play will be successful in Beijing since Lao She was born there.
