People in Zhoushan islands, east China's Zhejiang province, have the custom of making "green pancakes" in early spring. The "green pancake" is a seasonal food as well as a true "green" food. Villagers smash tender shoots of wormwoods into small pieces and blend them with glutinous rice flour, and then the paste is seasoned with pollen pini and put into a round-shaped mould for steaming.
