The director of Seediq Bale, an epic Taiwan blockbuster released last year, reveals the bittersweet behind-the-scenes stories of the film's making to the audience at a book-signing event in Guangdong province's capital Guangzhou.
Wei Desheng will talk about his 12-year preparation for the movie, which won best picture at the 2011 Golden Horse Awards and was one of the top nine candidates for the Oscar's best foreign language film this year.
Seediq Bale tells of the historical war between Taiwan's tribal natives and the Japanese army in 1930. Wei will reveal the sidelights of casting and shooting the magnificent war scenes.
He will also speak candidly about difficulties raising funds and expose the audience to a movie director's real work and life.
The epic movie will be shown on the Chinese mainland in late March.
3-4 pm, March 11. Fangsuo Commune, B1 Floor, TaiKoo Hui shopping mall, 383 Tianhe Road (Shipai station, subway line 3), Tianhe district, Guangzhou.
