Nick Lachey is doing everything he can to get his wife Vanessa Minnillo pregnant.

The former 98 Degrees singer and the TV host-and-model tied the knot in front of just 35 friends and family in an intimate Caribbean ceremony on Necker Island last month and Nick revealed the pair are keen to start a family as soon as possible.

He told USmagazine.com: "I'm doing everything I can. Trust me, it would make me very happy. Family is very important. It's very important to us, and I'm sure that will be around the corner."

Nick - who was previously married to popstar Jessica Simpson - and Vanessa started their married life off with a 10-day honeymoon to the French Caribbean island of St. Barts, but Vanessa insisted before they left that she did not mind where they spent their post-wedding holiday as long as she was with her husband.

She explained: "Regardless of where we go I know we'll be going there as Mr. and Mrs. Lachey and I'm really excited about that."
