Study rates most influential satellite TV

Hunan TV, Zhejiang TV, Shanghai-based Dragon TV, Jiangsu TV, and Beijing TV were China's five most influential province-level satellite TV stations in 2016, a recent study shows.

The result, released on Monday, is from a report made by Ze Media, a Beijing-based major TV consultancy and analyst, judging from a comprehensive survey of all Chinese satellite TV stations with various indexes, including audience rating, social network popularity, and exposure on searching engine.

Hunan TV leads in its influence on WeChat and Weibo, China's two major online social network platforms, while Zhejiang TV was tops in its online audience rating. Among top 30 programs with the most influence online in 2016, Hunan TV has seven, and Zhejiang TV has 10.

Season 4 of Running Man and Happy Camp, both from Hunan TV, were found to be the most influential variety shows. Nevertheless, Jiangsu TV leads in influence of news reports on social network.
