Grammy Award-winning rock band Metallica will return to Asia with a concert in Shanghai on Jan 15 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Ticket prices will range from 480 yuan ($70) to 1,980 yuan, and go on sale from 2 pm on Dec 13.

The band will perform in Beijing on Jan 18 at the LeSports Center.

Tickets for the Beijing show are sold out, according to AEG Live, the live-entertainment division of Los Angeles-based AEG, the promoter of Metallica's shows in China.

Besides, the band will tour Seoul, Hong Kong and Singapore in January.

In August 2013, Metallica performed in China for the first time, with two sold-out shows at Shanghai's Mercedes-Benz Arena.

There, the band performed hits such as For Whom the Bell Tolls, Seek & Destroy and Enter Sandman, in front of more than 20,000 fans.

According to AEG Live, 10,000 tickets for the first show were sold in a few minutes, prompting them to do another concert the next day.

The band released their 11th studio album, Hardwired … To Self-Destruct, on Nov 18.

The 2 CD / 2 Vinyl set earned the band their sixth number one album on the Billboard Top 200 and debuted at number one in 23 countries.

Formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield, Metallica has become one of the most influential and commercially successful rock bands in history, having sold 110 million albums worldwide.
