The Japanese ceramist's academic background in architecture reflects deeply in his clay works-most of them in abstract geometrical forms.
In the museum's West Hall, Jacques Kaufman's ceramic installation In Between Something and Nothing is made of tens of thousands of faces to form a large circle, inspired by Taoism.
The whole work's appearance seems like a large circle but on closer inspection, gives the human face different meanings.
American ceramist Wayne Higby's works are used as architectural decorations. His large-size work Earth Cloud has been applied on the walls of Miller Center for the Arts in Pennsylvania.
The works in clay against brass present the different times of a day.
"The show is a ceramic art dialogue between the East and the West," says Pan Lusheng, president of Shandong University of Art and Design.
"On the road to apply ceramic art into public spaces, ceramists from different parts of the world are working in the same direction."
