Mountains and water are the key images for the inaugural exhibition at Shanghai Himalayas Museum, which celebrated the grand opening of its new site on June 15. It now stands at the entrance of Huamu Road Metro Station on Line 7, as part of the Zendai complex.

The exhibition, titled Insightful Charisma, occupies three levels of the building and spreads over more than 6,000 square meters of space.

It consists of three parts, representing works from more than 50 contemporary artists.

The first part, Urban Gardens, features architecture highlighting urban dwelling integrated with natural landscape.

Ten architects from home and abroad present their building models, simulations and photographs of the completed projects.

Among them are Arata Isozaki from Japan, designer of the Himalayas Center; Thomas Heatherwick from Britain, who created the torch design for the 2012 London Olympic Games; and French Chinese master architect I.M. Pei.
