Four high-ranking officials are being prosecuted on corruption charges, the country's top prosecuting body announced on Wednesday amid the nation's continued campaign against corruption.

Su Rong, a former State official who once served as Party chief in the provinces of Jiangxi, Qinghai and Gansu, was charged at People's Intermediate Court in Jinan, Shandong province, according to a statement from the Supreme People's Procuratorate.

He had been one of the vice-chairmen of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference until disciplinary authorities began an investigation into him in June 2014.

He was charged with taking bribes, abusing power and possessing a huge amount of unexplained assets, according to the indictment.

Another senior official being prosecuted is Du Shanxue, a former vice-governor of Shanxi, who was accused on similar charges and who will be tried in the People's Intermediate Court in Xuzhou, Jiangsu province. Du was reported to have been involved in the Shanxi Gang, one of the "cliques and cabals" referenced by the country's disciplinary authorities.

Zhao Shaolin, a former member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and secretary-general of the provincial Party Committee, will be tried at People's Intermediate Court in Ningbo, Zhejiang province.

Among a number of charges, he was accused of assisting his son in illicit business operations, offering bribes and committing fraud in purchasing foreign currency.

Sun Zhaoxue, former general manager of the state-owned Aluminum Corporation of China, was charged with accepting bribes and possessing unexplained personal assets.

In December 2014, the anti-graft commission found that Sun took advantage of his position to seek profits for others, asked for and accepted "a huge amount in bribes", and committed adultery.

Sun will be tried in People's Intermediate Court in Tie-ling, Liaoning province, on charges of taking bribes and possessing a huge amount of unexplained personal assets.
