BEIJING -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan in Beijing on Friday, said a press release issued by the ministry on Saturday.
The two ministers exchanged views on promoting China-Armenia relations, enhancing high-level exchange, jointly building the Silk Road Economic Belt, carrying out cooperation on industry capacity as well as international and regional affairs, said the release.
On Saturday, Nalbandyan and Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Rashid Olimov signed a memorandum marking Armenia's official status as a dialogue partner of the SCO.
In July 2015, The SCO decided to take in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia and Nepal as new dialogue partners.
Founded in 2001, the SCO now has China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan as its full members, with Afghanistan, Belarus, India, Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan as observers, and Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Turkey as dialogue partners.
