Increase in passenger numbers this CNY

There were 13,085 flights landing or taking off at Shanghai's two airports during the week-long Chinese New Year holiday, 5.1 percent more than the same period last year, reported Wenhui Daily.

Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao International Airport received 1.83 million passenger trips throughout the seven days, a 3.4 percent year-on-year growth. The peak was on Feb 13, the sixth day of the Chinese New Year, when the two airports registered a combined 310,000 passenger trips and 2,153 flights.

No free ticket for Shanghai Disney

A widely circulated message on Chinese social app WeChat claiming that users will receive a free ticket to the Shanghai Disneyland upon replying “pick a ticket” is false, the Shanghai municipal government announced on its official micro-blog on Feb 14. The Shanghai Disneyland theme park will open its doors to the public on June 16 and ticket prices have been set at 499 yuan during its grand opening period (June 16-30) and on peak days, and 370 yuan for off-peak periods.

Jumbo slide to open in Pudong

A dragon-shaped slide measuring a height of five-storeys in a mall on Shanghai's Pujian Road in Pudong New Area is expected to be open in March, according to the Youth Daily. Visitors must be at least 1.1 meters tall and have no heart problems in order to use the slide. It will take about 16 seconds for people to slide to the bottom.

Boulevard de sakura

A 2-kilometer-long boulevard featuring sakura flowers will be unveiled in the city's Xuhui district, according to Miao Zhixian, an official from Xuhui district who was quoted by Jiefang Daily. The trees, most of which will be ginkgo and cherry blossom, will be planted between Humin Road and Caobao Road as part of the district government's efforts to develop the area measuring more than 500 mu (333,333 square meters) by creating green spaces.
