Shanghai Hongqiao Central Business District will step up efforts in its construction work, and is looking forward to achieving more development breakthroughs in 2016.
The Hongqiao CBD in the western part of Shanghai covers 86 square kilometers, including a 27-square-kilometer main function area and a 59- square-kilometer expansion area.
Positioned as the world's first class business district, Hongqiao CBD will integrate the function development of high-end business and trading, convention and exhibition as well as a transportation hub. It will work as the new engine for the further development of the Yangtze River Delta area, according to the 13th Five-Year Development Plan (2016-2020) recently released by Shanghai Municipal Government.
To achieve its goal, the Hongqiao CBD management committee said it will accelerate construction work and integrate a series of development characteristics, such as low carbon, intelligence, transportation hub, business, humanity and supporting facilities.
For example, as part of the construction of the National Green Demonstration Area, all newly-built structures should be green buildings.
The committee said about 95 percent of buildings at its core area, a 4.7-square-kilometer area in the main function area, will finish roof sealing in 2016.
The committee will also promote the construction of supporting facilities, such as healthcare, education, culture, sports and talent apartments.
Besides that, the city's first tour route and demonstration area, with a fusion of business, tourism and culture will be launched in May, which will show the characteristic development of Hongqiao CBD to visitors.
By the end of 2015, a total of 288 buildings at the core area, or 82 percent of the total, were completed.
By now, more than 220 international and domestic enterprises have settled in the Hongqiao CBD.
