Xi'an High-tech Industrial Development Zone, one of the nation's top such zones in the capital of Shaanxi province, is trying to recruit more foreign talent to accelerate construction of the world's leading science and technology park and national independent innovation demonstration zone.

As part of the effort, the first innovation and entrepreneurship summit forum and a series of activities for project matchmaking were held on Friday. It attracted more than 50 experts from China's 1,000 Talents Plan, the recruitment program for global experts launched by the central government.

According Yang Renhua, deputy director of the zone's administration committee, the zone ranks talent as a vital support to build the world's leading science and technology parks and create a national independent innovation demonstration zone.

"Independent innovation is in the final for talent innovation and talent is the core for innovation," Yang said.

Therefore, the zone vigorously introduced innovative, leading talent to build an innovation city during Belt and Road Initiative construction.

With support from the National 1,000 Talents think tank and local government, the zone has successfully introduced more than 80 overseas experts from the United States, Britain, Germany, Japan, Canada and Singapore. Many of the experts have launched their own companies in China, achieving great results in the fields of electronic information, biological medicine,equipment manufacturing and new materials.

And in 2015, the zone introduced 15 experts from the 1,000 Talents Plan and its totally 30 experts of the 1,000 Talents Plan, Yang said.

More than 150 enterprises headquartered in the zone took part in the forum and activities to seek opportunities for cooperation and project investment with the experts who believe that the zone offers a very good investment climate and development chances.
