BEIJING - An official in China's top legislative body has been expelled from office and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for disciplinary violations.

Yang Shaocheng, an official with the general office of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, was found to have violated organizational discipline and untruthfully reported personal matters by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) of the CPC.

Yang is also suspected of seeking benefits and accepting assets while handling personnel affairs, the CCDI said, adding that some of the alleged acts violate criminal law.

Yang's case has been transferred to judicial organs.

The CCDI said Yang seriously violated the Party's code of behavior as a Party cadre. Yang has been expelled from the Party according to discipline regulations and removed from office in accordance with regulations on civil servants.
