NANNING - China has repatriated 65 foreign nationals for illegally entering the country and working in the southern autonomous region Guangxi.

Police in Guangxi's Liujiang county said Sunday they have arrested three suspects, including a foreign national surnamed He, in connection with smuggling the foreigners into China to work at a local wood company.

According to the bureau, He was allegedly "snake head," who helped the workers cross the border illegally and charged exorbitant "transportation fees" of up to 1,500 yuan (232 US dollars) per person. He worked with two other Chinese suspects, Zhao and Li. All three suspects have been prosecuted.

Guangxi Police have uncovered 145 illegal immigrant cases in its two-year campaign, and apprehended 233 suspects, local authorities said in January.
