17 trapped after coal mine explodes in NE China

HARBIN - A coal mine explosion on Wednesday afternoon has trapped 17 people in Northeast China's Hegang City, Heilongjiang province, the local work safety authority said.
The explosion happened at about 2:30 p.m. when 50 people were working under the shaft, with 33 managed to escape after the accident.
Rescue work is underway.
