Travel time between the two capital cities of Anhui and Fujian is reduced from more than eight hours previously to less than four hours.
Construction of the railway, which is more than 800 km long, began in May 2010 and required a total investment of about 43.8 billion yuan ($7.05 billion). Authorities said the rail will be expanded to Taiwan in the future.
