Couple’s argument leads to housing bonus

A real estate company offered a generous bonus to a young man after a video of him fighting with his girlfriend, complaining about the financial burden of buying a house went viral online, Zhengzhou Evening News reported on April 17.

The 23-year-old Zhengzhou man surnamed Meng was making a phone call to his girlfriend on a subway, and an anonymous passenger recorded the video. It appeared that his girlfriend complained about him not attending her friends’ gathering. Meng responded, “Your parents said buying a house is the prerequisite for our getting married. I was working overtime to make money.”

Later his girlfriend seems to have asked him to break up. Meng became so angry that he smashed his phone.

On Thursday, local real estate company Betterway Group offered Meng a 50,000 yuan bonus if he bought a house from them.
