Flipping the table, host pays guests on Birthday
At his 70 th birthday party in Changle, East China's Fujian province, a man gave every guest in attendance 3,245 yuan ($525), Strait News reported on Friday.
The birthday celebration, included 118 tables holding 10 guests each, cost more than 3 million yuan ($487,800). The man's sons and nephews, mostly businessmen, sponsored the feast to show their filial affection.
Payment to guests reverses a Chinese tradition in which guests give the birthday celebrant "congratulation money", and the celebrant then pays for the party.
