Mainland's Taiwan affairs chief meets Taipei mayor

BEIJING - Chinese mainland's Taiwan affairs chief Zhang Zhijun said the Chinese mainland will continue to develop cross-Straits ties when meeting with Taipei mayor Hao Lung-bin on Sunday.
Zhang expressed his appreciation for the active role Hao and the city of Taipei have played over the past years in promoting cooperation and exchange.
Zhang said throughout his four-day visit to the island, he has felt mainstream public support for peaceful development across the Straits deeply and the Taiwanese people from all walks of life have expressed the hope that cross-Straits ties to be further enhanced in the future.
Zhang also expressed his hope to Hao, also vice-chairman of Taiwan's ruling Kuomintang (KMT) party, that the Chinese mainland and Taiwan enhance interaction and cooperation in all areas so as to bring more benefits to the common people across the Straits.
