The government of a county in Northwest China's Shaanxi province apologized on Tuesday for allowing a public kindergarten to only recruit children whose parents work in government offices.
The kindergarten in Shanyang posted a notice listing requirements for enrolling children. The notice said that both of the child's parents should work in departments affiliated with the county government, which elicited complaints from many local residents, according to a report on the official website of People's Daily.
The county government said it has decided to cancel the notice and allow the kindergarten to enroll children of ordinary residents, including migrant workers. Two more classes will be set up in the county's schools to meet demand for kindergarten education, the report said.
