Web celebrities and people known to be involved in scandals are not allowed to be guests on TV shows, according to the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television.

Li Wei, the administration's deputy director, said that TV programs, especially news programs, should not be too recreational or vulgar.

Carpenter thief nailed for breaking into homes

Police have arrested a former carpenter thought to be behind the theft of goods worth 1.6 million yuan ($253,000) from Beijing luxury homes.

The 31-year-old suspect, surnamed Yang, was caught several hours after he ran away from a crime scene in Daxing district, leaving behind a BMW car that had been used as a getaway vehicle in his other burglaries, police said on Wednesday.

Yang is said to have utilized his woodwork skills to open the windows and doors of 20 luxury homes since 2010.

Three parties blamed over fatal scalding

Three parties are being held responsible for the death of a 27-year-old Beijing woman who fell into a pool of boiling water from burst heating pipes.

A preliminary investigation by Beijing's Xicheng district concluded that Beijing District Heating Group, Wuhua Mansion property management department, and Wanhua Zhiye Ltd, the developers of Wuhua Mansion, bore responsibility for the accident, it was announced on Wednesday.

Yang Erjing, the mother of a 7-month-old child, died on Monday after suffering severe burns when a section of pavement gave way under her and she fell into water leaking from underground pipes.
