The profit of China's aviation industry in the first half of this year was 18.3 billion yuan ($2.83 billion), up 27.3 percent year-on-year, China Business News reported on Monday.

Citing industry insiders, the report said demand during the period was still plenty; however, airline capacity didn't increase quickly.

Data from China's Civil Aviation Administration showed 60 planes were added to the industry during the period, while during the same period last year the number was 90. Analysts said the expected growth rate of demand in the second half of the year was 13 percent, higher than the capacity's growth now.

The report also said international routes and cargo shipping performed worse compared to last year.
