BEIJING - Chinese Vice-Premier Li Keqiang met in Beijing on Monday with Leo Apotheker, president and CEO of Hewlett-Packard (HP).

Noting China-US economic and trade relations is the cornerstone of bilateral ties, Li said the two countries are highly complementary economically.

Mutually beneficial bilateral economic and trade relations are in line with the interests of the two peoples, he said, adding the US companies in China are the witnesses and beneficiaries of the healthy development of bilateral economic and trade ties.

China is implementing its twelfth five-year plan, which aims to step up the transformation of the economic development pattern and accelerate the the growth of new strategic industries, he said, noting the plan will create broad space for strengthening bilateral economic cooperation.

He hopes multinational corporations like HP will further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with China, such as taking part in China's west development strategy, so as to promote the development of bilateral cooperation in high-technology industries.

Apotheker said HP will continue to reinforce investment in China and deepen cooperation with China's electronic information industry.
