The average monthly income for cadres of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) was 5,373 yuan ($826) by the end of 2010, and the average monthly salary for cadre family members was 2,637 yuan ($405) per person, which is 2.61 and 2.41 times more than during the 10th Five-Year Plan (2001-2005) period, a recent survey on military cadres and their families showed, the Ministry of Defense website announced on Wednesday.

Despite the rise in income, the survey found problems remain in cadre families, such as low employment rate for their spouses, and big relocation costs. An official said those issues will be further addressed and the cadre family's welfare will be improved during the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) period.

The survey system, started in 1996, is conducted twice a year. The recent one, from October 2010 to March 2011, covers 10,000 cadres and their families.
