Honeywell provides green city solutions in Beijing

Global equipment manufacturer Honeywell International Inc said it would participate in Beijing's Green Dragon Lake project, as a technology partner with China Development Bank Capital.

The project will involve the Oriental MGM International Hotel smart energy management project, the Orpea smart senior care, the smart Lego theme park, and a green and smart urban village.

"Joining hands with China Development Bank Capital to deploy Honeywell's technologies gives us the pioneering advantage in implementing the best solutions to help resolve the pressing challenges facing China's fast-growing urbanization development," said Stephen Shang, President and chief executive of Honeywell China.

"As a diversified, high-tech cyber industrial company, Honeywell has accumulated deep professional experience in sustainable development."

With the support and assistance from the CEO Council for Sustainable Urbanization, an initiative launched by the Paulson Institute and the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE), at the two companies signed the MOU at the CEO Council in Beijing today.

According to Honeywell, the company will implement its range of smart city solutions through the project, which can be widely applied in buildings, transportation, health care and homes to improve energy efficiency, security, productivity, comfort, as well as reducing the consumption of resources and environmental impact.

"We hope there will be more similar Sino-American cooperation in the future to nurture best practices and models," said Shang.

Providing green and smart solutions and products, Honeywell is also involved in several other sustainable urbanization development projects in China, including the Sumin Village in Haikou, and other projects.

"Being green and smart is CDBC's core objective to promote sustainable urbanization development nationwide," said Zuo Kun, CDB Capital's vice president.

"Honeywell's rich experience and world-leading technologies in smart grid, building automation and control, smart home, and security and fire management will be highly valuable for our projects."

In China, Honeywell has provided customized smart system solutions to more than 5,000 commercial buildings and industrial sites over the past decade.
