China will use more emerging high technologies to lift the sophistication and efficiency of its huge manufacturing sector, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said on Tuesday.
An array of new technologies, including cloud computing and 3D printing, will be adopted to "put more added-value" into traditional manufacturing industries, according to an article posted on the ministry's website.
New energy, new material, and data analytics power are among the most critical sectors China is trying to develop, the article said.
The ministry regulates the manufacturing, mining and information technology industries.
Building a strong manufacturing sector will help made-in-China products to gain the upper hand in global competition, which has greatly intensified since the outbreak of the global economic crisis in 2008. Having immense manufacturing power will safeguard national security, the ministry said.
