BEIJING - China's stocks tumbled more than two percent to a seven-week low following a sharp drop in the overnight US stock market that triggered investor worries over a new round of global recession.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slumped 2.15 percent to close at 2,626.42. The Shenzhen Component Index edged down 1.95 percent to finish at 11,701.76.
The shares tracked the 512.76-point drop of the Dow Jones industrial average index Thursday to open 2.38 percent lower on Friday morning.
