MIIT announces to develop smart grid and UHV

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) will push three initiatives to develop environmentally-friendly energy equipment industry.

Minister Su Bo said it will push the development of a smart grid and ultra-high voltage (UHV), Shanghai Securities News reported Monday. Analysts said this was the first time that MIIT publicly announced its plan to develop the smart grid and ultra-high voltage.

Su also said the ministry is working on more highly effective coal power equipment, according to the report.

The ministry will promote the new-energy equipment industry, energy equipment manufacturing, environmentally friendly technology and equipment and a low-carbon expansion of the energy equipment industry.
