Important market
According to the ambassador, who has worked in New York, Chicago and London, the South American country has been successful in promoting Malbec in other markets.
And he is confident that Argentina's Malbec wines, which are competitive for being good for price, will win the heart of the Chinese as they have managed before.
"China is falling in love with Malbec, it's a process of course. Chinese consumers are learning to taste different wines," he said.
"China is becoming an important market for us as more wineries are coming in. There is great opportunity to present and celebrate Malbec with the Chinese market," he said.
Ramiro Gomez Lopez, manager of Nexus America, echoed that China is the greatest market for wines in the region. His company entered China in 2012.
"We thought it was time. Malbec wine is fresh and fruity which makes it very suitable for the Chinese taste," said Lopez.
"Our main brand Mesidor Malbec is performing quite well and has high acceptance. Our sales have almost doubled here in the last year."
