He also faces increasingly fierce market competition. A big problem is many boys are willing to pay a good price for PUA, but the lack information made it hard for them to choose an advisor.
So two years ago, Wu set up his own website that allows different PUA consultants to open shops.
To protect consumer confidentiality and help clients decide, the website uses third - party payment providers and has a rating system for clients to make comments about any consultant. An excellent consultant can enjoy a monthly income as high as 200,000 yuan.
But the profession is not without problems. In more than one Western country, it is considered the art of the devil because it might be used to abuse love affairs and enjoy the life of a playboy.
And as a consultant Wu also faces a dilemma - to gain the trust of students, he must practice PUA himself and chat with girls at night bars. It might look interesting to many, but his girlfriend couldn't take it and finally left him.
Yet girls have their own version of the art. Yang Bingyang tutors females online, but unlike Wu and his colleagues that teach practical skills, she tends more to analyze a girl's overall competitiveness in the marriage market so she marries a man worth her value.
How to marry an excellent man and persuade him to invest in a girl and her descendents is the main objective of Yang's courses.
She has even developed a complete system to rate every type person on the marriage market. Beauty and young age are very important indexes for girls while economic capacity plays the decisive role in whether a man gets an A or a C.
It may sound unpleasant to all lovers that claim they love for nothing but love, and feminists might protest. But it is a practical question most couples must face one day if they think seriously about marriage.
Yang has more than 1.7 million followers on her micro blog called ayawawa, which is already a brand. In her opinion there is no reason to believe that favorable feelings must conquer instincts in selecting a spouse for life.
Yang thinks Chinese females now live in a quite friendly age because the common moral standards do not require much from them.
"Either taking a job or caring for children is socially acceptable," she said in an interview. "That's unimaginable for a male, who is considered the natural breadwinner of the family."
