The American luxury and lifestyle travel magazine “Condé Nast Traveler” published a ranking list themed on the world’s unfriendliest cities in 2014, among which Beijing was ranked number 6.
Environmental pollution, traffic congestion and a crowded population are the top three factors that puts Beijing on the list.
Though many readers of the magazine find Beijing fascinating, there are still a considerable amount of the travelers who comment that the city’s terrible pollution dulls its charm. “It’s a smoggy, crowded city that detracts from the amazing sites,” one reader said.
The poll was carried out among the magazine’s readers, and apart from Beijng, several other world famous cities such as Paris (Number 4), Marseilles (number 5) and Cannes (Number 2) are also included in the inglorious list, with Johannesburg in South Africa leading the ranking.
