At least 100 delegates to the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China have registered on Weibo, a Chinese Twitter-like micro-blogging service, to deliver messages about the conference and interact with the public on key issues.
Hong Kong-based newspaper Wen Wei Po reported that at least 100 delegates are active on social media platforms provided by Internet portals such as Sina, Tencent and Xinhua.
Cai Qi, a Party congress delegate and the head of the organization department of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee, has 8.4 million followers on his micro blog.
Cai has posted his notes, an analysis of the congress report, and pictures of the meetings to share with the followers.
