'Women can also work as couriers'

A woman has filed a lawsuit against a Beijing express delivery company for refusing to hire female couriers, chinajilin.com.cn reported on Friday.

Xiaolu, the 24-year-old girl graduated from university in June, 2014 and applied for a courier position at a branch office of the Beijing Postal Express & Logistics Co., Ltd in September.

Though the company made it clear in the recruitment notice that they only need male couriers, Xiaolu persuaded them to allow her to work for two days on a probationary period.

After two days of work, Xiaolu not only received praise from her colleagues, the manager of the branch office also agreed to sign contract with her in October.

However, after a one-month wait, Xiaolu received a reply from the office manager's assistant, saying that the headquarters refused to hire a female courier.
