Unlucky thief punished big for small theft
A thief was sentenced to seven months in prison and fined 1,000 yuan ($163) for stealing a wallet on a bus that contained only 50 cents, reported chengdu.cn on Tuesday.
The thief, surnamed Zhang, was heavily punished because it was not the first time he committed a crime and, according to Chinese law, theft in public places is punishable even if the amount is small, said the judge.
