Retired British footballer David Beckham visited the headquarters of Alibaba Group, China's e-commerce giant, on Thursday in Hangzhou city.
Beckham met with Jack Ma, founder of the e-commerce behemoth who recently topped Forbes' China Rich List. According to media reports, Beckham's whisky brand, Haig Club, is likely to be available during the "Double Eleven" online shopping festival promoted by Alibaba since 2009. The name refers to the date Nov 11.
Before arriving in China, Beckham attended a press conference for the liquor brand in South Korea.
Alibaba's Taobao and Tmall.com websites had total sales of 35 billion yuan ($5.7 billion) on Nov 11 last year.
