Hong Kong actress defrauded
Carman Lee Yeuk-tung, a well-known Hong Kong actress, was told by her agent that one million yuan ($0.16 million) has been stolen from her bank account by fraudsters.
Lee, who was born on Aug 16, 1973, is best known for her role as 'Xiaolongnv' in the 1995 TV series adaptation of Louis Cha's Wuxia novel The Return of the Condor Heroes.
Louis Cha Leung-yung, born on Feb 6, 1924, better known by his pen name Jin Yong, is a modern Chinese-language novelist. Cha's fiction, which is of the wuxia ('martial arts and chivalry') genre, has a widespread following in Chinese-speaking areas. Qinghai TV reported.
Instant noodles 'better than steamed bun'
Many foodies were recently stupefied by what they read - the nutritional value of instant noodles is higher than the steamed bun.
The claim has been made by a new research conducted by Tianjin University of Science& Technology, Modern Express reported on Saturday.
Suspended glass plank road set to open in Baishishan
Work on 1,900-meter-high suspended glass plank road in Baishishan scenic spot in Baoding city, Hebei province, has been completed and is set to open in mid-September, www.youth.cn reported. The construction of the road, which has a total length of 95 meters and is two meters wide, began on May 10 this year.
The road offers safe travel as it can carry 1,000 kg load per square metre.
Teacher scolds students for not giving her gifts
A high school teacher, Feng Qunchao, in Yilan county, Harbin, Heilongjiang province, publicly scolded students in her class for not giving her a gift on Teachers' Day, which is marked every year on Sept 10. After her outburst, the local education commission decided to give Feng demerits, suspended her and told her to return 600 hundred yuan to students,the Beijing news reported.
