WHISTLER, Canada: The Norwegian Aksel Lund Svindal won the men's super G Friday at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

Svindal finished the descent in one minute and 30.34 seconds to knock American Bode Miller from the top spot by 0.28 seconds. Miller won the silver medal.

Andrew Weibrecht of the US was third in 1:30.65.

Lund Svindal, a two-time World Cup overall champion, made a strong comeback in 2008-09 after a horrific crash. His victory Friday was the fourth gold medal for Norway in super G.

Svindal's countryman Kjetil Andre Aamodt won three of the six gold medals in the discipline after it was introduced to the Olympics at Calgary in 1988.

"For Scandanavians, it is very easy to feel good in North America, especially Canada," said Svindal.
