Sanmenxia gets $4.1-million fund for green development

The Sanmenxia development and reform commission recently received 27.86 million yuan ($4.1 million) for the city's jointly-operated South-to-North Water Diversion Project, 1.86 million more than it received last year.
The special fund will be mainly used in four green development projects in Lushi county of Sanmenxia.
The commission selected seven projects, and approached the Beijing support and poverty alleviation office as well as the Henan Province Development and Reform Commission, arguing vigorously for the project funds. Apart from that, the commission attaches great importance to the funds' implementation and is serious about ensuring that all the money is spent on green development in the city.
In recent years, the Sanmenxia development and reform commission has applied a total of 116 million yuan in Lushi County and helped establish 39 major city construction projects. The projects have greatly improved the local economy, bettered living conditions of the people and helped 3,000 locals escape poverty. The commission has also strengthened the relationship between Beijing and western Henan, bringing economic and social benefits to the county.
