As Qingming Festival (Tomb Sweeping Day) approaches, the demand for the flowers especially chrysanthemum has been rising. The greenhouses in Luojiaying village were previously growing organic vegetables and melons. However in 2016, to cater for market demand, local villagers began to cultivate a variety of flowers including the Gerbera jamesonii. Per greenhouse, net profit for cut flowers is three to four times higher than from growing vegetables. [Photo/nmgnews.com.cn]
