Located at 141-153 Binjiang Avenue, 2 Huazhong Road and 292 Heping Road of Heping District, the Former Huizhong Hotel is now an important protection historic architecture in Tianjin and is used for business. Designed by the Tianjin Branch of Shanghai Huazhong Construction Company, Huizhong Hotel was built in 1930 and came into use in 1931.
Covering an area of some 2100 square meters and a floor area of some 11000 square meters, it was then one of the most well-known restaurants in Tianjin. To meet different requirements of the concessions in Tianjin, rooms in the hotel were classified into eight types and dance hall, open cinema, Chinese cuisine and Western cuisine were available to the guests, most of whom were warlords, politicians, businessmen and elites.
With the story happened in this hotel as the original material, Cao Yu, the great playwright, wrote out Sunrise. The Former Huizhong Hotel was a five-storied building, part of it being six-storied, with a three-storied high tower on the top, belonging to the eclectic architecture. The Quanyechang Mall, National Commercial Bank, Communications Hotel and Huizhong Hotel had made a perfect combination of architectures of different styles.
